The Same Old Story

So Tim Henman is out of Wimbledon again. The Crass football obsessed papers have been at their usual awful summer hobby of deriding him, despite the fact that he went out to the world number one Roger Federer. Federer is arguably the greatest player the world has ever seen. Poor old Tim had at least 5 pieces of bad luck before even playing

He Had Played A Five setter the night before

Wimbledon chiefs had the option of postphoning his game until the thursday, which they did for
Andre Agassi

Nalbandian finished his game in 3 sets, and Kim Clijsters opponent defaulted, meaning Henman was on a good 2-3 hours than he should have been.

He should have been seeded out of respect to his performance at Wimbledon over the years

Plus, he had been injured for most of the year until his form returned at Queens.

Good on Tim for saying he will comeback next year and probably 2008 as well, but its hightime, that the nasty and absurd press, and Ignorant non tennis fans in this country got off his back. Go and sing Scotland the brave, and support Mr Petulance, Andrew Murray if you want to, but never forget the 2 semi's, countless quarters and the classic matches henman has given us over the years.

Remember that game 10 years ago, at the height of Euro 96, when Henman was matchpoint down against Yveginy Kafelnikov, a very talented seeded russian player. Henman went on to win in a magnificient final set. I said at the time, with true brit grit like that, and a little bit of luck, Henman would one day WIN Wimbledon. I still maintain that belief and look forward to next year, who knows maybe he will get some luck, like Ivanisevic did, in his winning twilight year. A fairer draw, and a Federer broken ankle perhaps.
